London

I saw the Cildo Meireles show at Tate Modern. It was amazing. I loved nearly every one of the works there. I like the way he creates places.

Lilith was back. About time… I dont have to write them another complaint :D
Was not overly impressed by the Gerhard Richter show at the Serpentine although I had to sprint around as I arrived as it was closing… much like the work at Tate Britain. I really liked a couple of the works in the Turner Prize show. One of them being ‘Be the first to see what you see when you see it’ by Runa Islam.

Northampton…
October 24, 2008
It was great, I got a lot of information. I was able to go to the storage areas where they kept most of the concealed shoes and was left to do as I liked, which was great. I was also left with the index for a while and a lot of research papers mainly written/collected by Miss Swann I think.
I got some audio recordings that seem to have worked out well but cant get them uploaded just yet.
I will upload photos to my Flickr site
I got some videos too which are on another memory card which I cant seem to find. Coming soon!
I also made some more little animated things with some of the concealed shoes…

Birmingham…
October 22, 2008
Birmingham is odd. Full of very old industrial buildings, some plain ugly buildings, and a few very over the top modern buildings such as the Future Systems’ Selfridges building. I imagine there are also very few places in which will see a small shop just outside the station selling both lingerie and custard cream biscuits.

Went to the UK’s oldest cinema and saw ‘Burn After Reading’ go see it.

Also saw some fantastic art in the hostel room… I think its actually wrapping paper.

We had group crits yesterday, they went quite well I think. I also decided I am going down to Northampton Museum and Art Gallery. I have been speaking with someone there and they are happy for me to spend some time with the index/collection of concealed shoes and make some work around them. All going well there is the possibility of an exhibition down there also. So I am going down on Tuesday and spending Wednesday with the index/shoes. In order to get down there and back im doing on a little detour. Birmingham on the way there and London on the way back. Ending with a lovely 12 hour megabus trip back up.

Collaborative Project (amazing)
October 17, 2008
Our next project is a collaborative one. We will be making site specific work for this event. Its called Feet First and will be happening on the 1st of January 2009 on the Royal Mile. We will be working in groups of around three, and each group will be making an artwork for a close on the Royal Mile.

There are six groups in total. We have a very generous budget and will be working around some really interesting artists. The theme is hope and it is important to be as bold as possible! It should be fantastic, everyones really excited about it.
